About Ama Wellness
At Ama Wellness, we believe in the power, presence, and healing potential of Black women and girls. Our mission is to empower them through yoga, mindfulness, self-care, and sisterhood—creating space for rest, resistance, and restoration.
Ama Wellness is a yoga therapy practice intentionally designed for African-American women and girls. We offer holistic wellness resources and culturally affirming practices that support mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Through private sessions, group workshops, and community initiatives, we help Black women reconnect with their bodies, manage stress, and cultivate inner peace.
Our work is rooted in an integrative health approach—one that addresses the layered impacts of systemic inequity, intergenerational trauma, and health disparities in our communities. We know that wellness is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why our offerings blend the therapeutic benefits of yoga with evidence-based strategies that center the lived experiences of Black women and girls.
Our Name
Ama means “born on Saturday” in the Akan language of Ghana and our founder Nazaahah Ama Amin is blessed to have this name as her middle name. The name also carries meanings of love, grace, and nurturing. These values are woven into everything we do. Whether on the mat, in conversation, or in community, we create sacred spaces where Black women and girls can feel seen, supported, and whole.
At Ama Wellness, we’re not just practicing yoga—we’re cultivating joy, reclaiming rest, and building a legacy of wellness for generations to come.
