About Nazaahah

Nazaahah Ama Amin is a certified yoga therapist, advanced yoga teacher, and community healer with over 14 years of experience guiding individuals and groups toward embodied wellness. Rooted in Baltimore, her work is a soulful blend of tradition, trauma-informed care, and Black woman wisdom.

She holds a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, where she served as a clinical supervisor and adjunct faculty in the Yoga Therapy program. She completed both her 200- and 500-hour yoga teacher trainings through Yama Yoga Collective.

Her journey began in 2011 with her signature Sistas Yoga Series, and by 2013, she founded Ama Wellness—a yoga therapy practice centered on the healing needs of African American women and girls.

A former Baltimore City elementary school teacher, Nazaahah taught for over a decade before shifting her classroom into studios, school gyms, and community spaces—bringing the practice of yoga and mindfulness directly to youth across Maryland and Washington, DC. In 2017, she co-founded Bmore Empowered, a nonprofit devoted to supporting Black girls through mindfulness, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Today, she offers private and group yoga therapy sessions from her cozy studio in Downtown Baltimore and facilitates healing workshops for schools, universities and community organizations. Whether she’s leading a workshop, creating aromatherapy blends for her company Ama Scents, or sharing tea and laughter with her sista-friends, Nazaahah’s work remains grounded in care, curiosity, and community.

When she’s not leading sessions, you’ll find her reading something soul-stirring, globe trotting with her son, or dreaming up new ways to help Black women and girls breathe deeper and live fuller.

My Why?

I’m a mama, daughter, sister, auntie, friend—and a proud Black nerd with a deep love for books, movement, and community care. My life has always been shaped by connection: to Spirit, to my people, to purpose. At the core of everything I do is a powerful belief in the healing strength of sisterhood and the undeniable brilliance of Black women and girls.

That belief is my why.

It fuels my mission to create spaces where Black women can breathe, heal, and come home to themselves—without apology or performance. As a certified yoga therapist and lifelong educator, I’ve had the honor of guiding hundreds of Black women and girls through yoga therapy, self-care rituals, and sacred Sista Circles. From women-owned studios in Baltimore to national conferences and retreats across the country, my work is rooted in love, cultural reverence, and deep listening.

But my why goes beyond poses or breathwork.

It comes from witnessing the inequities that have kept so many of us—especially Black women—from accessing the care we deserve. I saw how systems failed to recognize our pain, how generational trauma lingered in our bodies and spirits, and how resilience was expected without resources. And I knew that healing had to look different for us. It had to be ours.

That’s why I created Ama Wellness—to build pathways to wellness that reflect who we are and what we carry. My work is a labor of love, a devotion to our collective liberation, and a reclamation of healing as our birthright.

Every workshop, every session, every breath shared in community is my offering to this vision. My hope is that each person who journeys with me feels seen, heard, and held—and walks away not only more whole, but more powerful.

This is my why.
This is my love in motion.
This is our healing.
